Why Diesel Ban in India ?

Diesel engines are a major concern in India due to their significant environmental and health impacts. They emit high levels of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM), contributing to severe air pollution and respiratory issues. In densely populated cities, this pollution exacerbates public health problems and reduces quality of life. Addressing these concerns is crucial for meeting air quality standards, improving public health, and combating climate change.

Also As of 2023, India spends over $100 billion annually on importing fuels, primarily crude oil to meet the requirements and growing demands of Indian Consumers. So to reduce these fuel imports and using ethanol as there alternative is very much helpful  for Indian Government and Nature also. That is why our Indian Government is taking too much strict actions on Diesel Engines as well as they want to limit the petrol needs also by using flex fuel vehicles that can run 100% on Ethanol that will also directly help Indian Economy

New 10% Pollution Tax on Diesel engines

A video of our Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari is nowadays trending very much where he is telling about his Proposal of Adding Additional 10% GST or Pollution tax on Diesel engines where it is a diesel car or a diesel generator set which is aimed at reducing emissions from vehicles, particularly diesel-powered ones, in India. This tax targets the most polluting engine so that people would go for cleaner fuel options rather than choosing the Diesel one. By imposing this tax we can see the shift from diesel cars to Electric, Hydrogen, Hybrid and Flex Fuel Cars basically better options than Diesel.

The revenue generated from this tax is expected to be reinvested in environmental projects and infrastructure to further mitigate pollution. This measure can promote Diesel Alternatives and help nature by controlling the pollution, air quality and climate change while promoting sustainable transportation solutions.

NOTE : This is just a Proposal no actions are taken from our government regarding this additional Pollution Tax, But can be done n Future.
